Jacques

Jacques started his working life at the Parish of St. Helier as an apprentice in horticulture in 2003. This involved using all sorts of machinery and vehicles. Once he had completed his apprenticeship, he remained in the role for 13 years. He then moved into the roads department and gained more knowledge, experience and qualifications in machinery and plant equipment.

During this time, he became skilled in driving and handling garden machinery, lorry mounted cranes, 360 diggers and front loaders, forklifts, tractors, trucks with and without a trailer. He also learned how to load and safely secure loads on large vehicles – a skill in itself! He also worked a short while as an instructor and examiner in plant machinery - ITSSAR (e.g. forklifts, lorry-mounted cranes etc.) as well as driving coaches for Tantivy. It’s safe to say his experience is second to none.

In 2017 he successfully qualified as an Approved Driving Instructor and set up his own driving school, JC’s Driving Academy. Initially he was just teaching people to drive cars, however, with his previous experience of a huge variety of other vehicles, he felt he wanted to transfer and share those skills and experience with other in the commercial sector and offer driver training for all categories of licencing. Jacques prides himself on being able to offer suitable vehicles, knowledge and experience of the commercial industry to his students, as well as the standard driver training required to pass the DVS tests for Category C1, C1+ E, C+E, D1 and D.
